Minority whip’s report details long bill, ‘good and bad’ bill hearings on tap in House this week

By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice Final approval was looming Monday for the "Long Appropriations Bill" in the Colorado House, and Minority Whip Richard Holtorf said Saturday he would be in opposition to the proposal to increase spending by more than $2 billion. Republicans were able to pass a few amendments "aligning with pressing needs of our constituents" to improve the spending bill, a statement in the weekend "Mighty 19 Minute" newsletter reads. The adopted Republican amendments included $2 million for a ninth-grade success grant by Rep. Rose Pugliese, $6.1 million for senior services by Rep. No, dogs are not people. They do not cheat on you, give up on you, ignore you or abandon you during tough times. Their love is pretty much unconditional in my experience, no matter how unlovable their owners sometimes act. Dogs do not have people emotions. No, their emotions are more steadfast and generous than that. Certainly my dog had better social skills than I, always greeting every day, every trail and every person he met like they were the most interesting thing on the planet. Denver considers $2M state grant to assist housing homeless

By Noah Festenstein | Denver Gazette The Denver City Council on Monday will consider accepting a $2 million state grant to provide homeless people with essential services that include transitioning from temporary shelters into permanent housing. Denver’s housing department plans to use the money for rapid rehousing efforts throughout the city over the next two years. If approved, Denver will receive funds from Colorado’s “Transformational Homelessness Response” grant program until Sept. 30, 2026.
