New York court considers law that would allow 800,000 non-citizens to vote

By Alana Mastrangelo | Breitbart A staggering 800,000 non-citizens could reportedly be voting soon in New York City elections, as a court is considering legislation this week that would allow them to register to vote ahead of the city’s elections. A top New York court is set to hear arguments regarding the matter on Tuesday, according to a report by Politico. This comes after an appellate court struck down Democrats’ efforts to permit non-citizens to vote last year. If the initiative by Democrats is successful, around 800,000 non-citizens living in New York City will be allowed to vote in city-level elections, such as the upcoming mayoral election this November, the report noted. Trump directs Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to ‘stop producing new pennies’

By Elizabeth Weibel | Breitbart President Donald Trump announced he had instructed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to have the Treasury Department stop making new pennies, explaining that it costs more than two cents to make them. “For far too long the United States has minted pennies which literally cost us more than 2 cents,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “This is so wasteful! I have instructed my Secretary of the US Treasury to stop producing new pennies. Let’s rip the waste out of our great nations budget, even if it’s a penny at a time.” Trump’s post comes after Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) wrote in a post on X in January that the penny costs more than three cents to make and cost American taxpayers “over $179 million in FY2023.” READ TH...

U.S. Unemployment Rate Falls To 4.0%, Economy Added 143,000 Jobs In January

By John Carney | Breitbart Employers in the United States added 143,000 workers to their payrolls in January, the Department of Labor said Friday, and the unemployment rate slipped to 4.0 percent. Economists had been expecting 168,000 jobs and an unemployment rate unchanged at 4.1 percent, according to a survey by Econoday. The figures are seasonally adjusted. In January, there is typically a large downshift in employment in the retail sector, as businesses downsize following the holiday shopping season. Without seasonal adjustment, the data show the economy shed nearly 2.9 million jobs in January. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

NGOs shutter migrant shelters as releases end and money dries up

By Randy Clark | Breitbart Non-Government Migrant Shelters (NGOs) are feeling the impact as illegal entries continue to dwindle across the southwest border after President Trump’s swift actions to control the border and carry out mass deportations. Non-profit organizations that received hundreds of millions of dollars from the federal government under the Biden Administration began to close their doors. From Texas to California, the shelters that once counted on a steady flow of cash from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Food and Shelter Program and later by FEMA and Customs and Border Protection jointly under the Shelter and Services Program are no longer receiving released asylum-seeking migrants from the Department of Homeland Security. The released migrants,...

U.S. will take over Gaza, ‘We will own it,’ Trump says

By Joel B. Pollak | Breitbart President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. would take over Gaza and remove debris, tunnels, and explosives left there by Hamas after the war with Israel, adding that he saw America taking a “long-term ownership position.” Trump said: “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll love it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous bombs and other weapons on the site… and get rid of the destroyed buildings [and] create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing.” The surprise announcement came as the president spoke alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the first foreign leader to visit Trump since his Inauguration last month. USAID staffers told to stay home after Musk said Trump agreed to shutter it

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Stay at home and don’t bother to come into the office. That was the message to staffers of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Monday who were instructed to stay out of the agency’s Washington headquarters. The advice came via a notice distributed to the career bureaucrats, AP reports, after Elon Musk announced President Donald Trump had agreed with him to shut the agency down. According to AP, USAID staffers said they “also tracked more than 600 employees who reported being locked out of the agency’s computer systems overnight.” READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

Trump moving forward with tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico, targeting trade, border and fentanyl concerns

By John Carney | Breitbart The White House confirmed Friday that President Donald Trump will impose new tariffs on major U.S. trading partners this weekend, strengthening his administration’s efforts to protect American industry and national security. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that a 25 percent tariff will be placed on goods from Mexico and Canada, while Chinese imports will face a 10 percent duty. The move, she said, is aimed at holding these countries accountable for their role in drug trafficking and securing fairer trade terms for American workers. “These nations have all enabled illegal drugs to pour into America,” Leavitt said. “The amount of fentanyl seized at the southern border in recent years alone has the potential to kill tens of millions o...
