Close to 1 million Colorado voters returned their ballots on Election Day

By Maddie Rhodes | Fox 31 News On Election Day, many Coloradans were still in the process of casting their votes. Within less than 24 hours, almost a million people returned their ballots. On Monday, only about half the registered voters in Colorado had voted. The Colorado Secretary of State said that 2,092,035 people returned their ballots by Monday, marking over half the 4,027,830 active voters in Colorado. However, voter turnout continued to rise. 2 Tren de Aragua members arrested in Aurora, linked to Texas murder

By Heather Willard | Fox31 News Two men who are allegedly members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua were arrested by officials in Aurora in September for the August murder of Nilzuly Enrique Arneaud-Petit, 33, in Farmers Branch, Texas. Homeland Security Investigations reported on Nov. 1 that Carl Luis Zambrano-Bolivar, 26, and Jhonata Nahin Toro Gonzalez, 22, were arrested on Sept. 26 in Aurora by Denver’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations team. The arrests are connected to a third individual, 38-year-old Ehiker Morales Mendoza, who was arrested by federal law enforcement on Oct. 11 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Gilpin County election watcher dismissed while observing signature verification

By Rachel Saurer | Fox 31 News The Gilpin County Clerk dismissed an election watcher on Tuesday who was watching the signature verification process after a disagreement on how close the watcher could be to the poll worker’s station. An election watcher is a fairly new addition to the ballot counting process, born from former President Donald Trump’s proven-to-be-false claims of election fraud in 2020. According to the Secretary of State’s office, an election watcher is “an eligible voter who has been appointed by an authorized appointing entity to witness and verify the conduct of an election.” Election watchers also must complete a 10-minute training course. Two years ago, the state passed legislation to stay on daylight saving time permanently. However, Colorado never switched to permanent daylight saving time because federal law still doesn’t allow it. Because of the Uniform Time Act of 1966, federal law only allows states to opt out of the program and does not let them permanently opt in.
