In Fort Collins, man attempts to board school bus

By Morgan Whitley | Fox 31 News A man was arrested after he allegedly tried to get on a school bus, Fort Collins police said. On Tuesday afternoon, Fort Collins Police Services told FOX31 that a school bus full of children stopped at a regular bus stop to let the kids out. The bus stop is across from the Murphy Center, which is described as a hub for those experiencing homelessness. A man allegedly walked across the street and tried to enter the bus, police said. By Morgan Whitley | KDVR The Regional Transportation District and local authorities are investigating what they called racist signs that have popped up at bus stations along Colfax Avenue. According to RTD, on Thursday, a bus operator spotted a sign at around 5 a.m. at a bus stop near Colfax Avenue and Oneida Street in the Montclair neighborhood. The operator said the metal sign was attached to a bus stop pole and appeared to have been installed shortly before the operator reported it. By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News The Colorado Legislature’s 2024 special session ended Thursday after a whirlwind four days, with lawmakers approving a bipartisan bill to reduce the assessment rate for residential properties. The bill passed the Colorado House on Wednesday, but not without some pushback. The measure had been serving as negotiations between state lawmakers and supporters of the statewide ballot initiatives 50 and 108. The pre-negotiated measure was designed to slow property tax increases. The measure passed with a vote of 45-18 in the House, with 15 Democrats and three Republicans voting no. The Pine Canyon project is an urban-level development “in the heart of Castle Rock,” which would take over 530 acres of unincorporated Douglas County and add over 4,500 residents to the area. The acreage is nestled between The Woodlands neighborhood, Metzler Ranch and Red Hawk. Rent on the rise: Report shows annual increase in Denver

By Spencer Kristensen | KDVR Data released from the rental website Zumper has revealed that the price of rent is increasing nationally. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment has increased by 1.6% across the U.S. with a median price of $1,534. While two-bedroom apartments have jumped up by 2.7% and cost $1,915. Locally, no Colorado city appeared in the top 20 cities in this list, with Denver missing out coming in at the 21st spot. Denver had a median one-bedroom price of $1,850 which is a 1.6% uptick in price from last year and two-bedroom median prices at $2,470, which was also a 1.6% increase.
