‘First time’ Secret Service snipers were deployed to protect Trump in 2024 was at Butler rally, director says

By Jack Phillips | The Epoch Times The first time that the U.S. Secret Service deployed snipers for the Trump campaign in 2024 was at the July 13 Pennsylvania rally where former President Donald Trump was shot in the ear, the acting director of the agency confirmed. “It was the first time Secret Service counter snipers were deployed to support the former President’s detail,” acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe said at a news conference on Aug. 2, responding to a question about whether snipers were deployed for the Trump campaign in 2024. The agency had “evaluated a threat stream … and we put our Secret Service counter-sniper personnel out there,” he said. “And looking back, it was very fortunate that we did.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE EPOCH TIMES

Markets claw back some losses on rebound Tuesday; Dow still down 4.17% for the week

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice The worst day in two years on Wall Street and in financial markets worldwide was followed Tuesday by some claw back in value. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which took a beating on Monday, finished up 0.76% on a nearly 295-point rise. The S&P 500 finished up 1.04% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.03%. Many financial analysts supported the theory Monday's bloodbath for investors was related to an underperforming jobs report, or possibly inaction by the Fed. Former President Donald J. Trump noted it was also possibly related to his opponent, Democrat Kamala Harris, announcing prior to the market opening she had the delegates for the nomination for President. He called it the "Kamala Crash" and boasted a Trump presidency would result i...

Who is Harris’ VP candidate Tim Walz? A far Left radical, Trump campaign says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Where does the selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as vice president place a possible Kamala Harris-Walz presidential administration on the political spectrum? It cements it as a far Left, radical ticket, the most radical in the country's history, several sources in the Donald J. Trump presidential campaign said Tuesday. "From proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide," Karoline Leavitt, the Trump-Vance campaign press secretary, wrote in a statement. Walz is soft on crime and "loves" China, opposition research by the Republican Party indic...

Report: Kamala Harris names Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her VP running mate

By Paul Steinhauser , Brooke Singman , Chris Pandolfo | Fox News Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, on Tuesday named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate as she faces off against former President Trump in the 2024 election, according to the Associated Press. The naming of the 60-year-old Walz was not a shocker, as his name was instantly thought to be in contention in the two weeks since Harris succeeded President Biden as the party's standard-bearer. The 60-year-old Walz, a former congressman, is in his second term as governor of Minnesota, a state that Democrats have reliably won in presidential elections for decades but that the Trump campaign has aimed at flipping this cycle. Victims of clergy sex abuse in San Francisco rebuke Kamala Harris for not fighting for them

By Kerry Picket  | The Washington Times Catholic clergy abuse victims in California strenuously objected when Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris described herself as a top-notch prosecutor who went after sex offenders during her time as San Francisco’s district attorney. Joey Piscitelli, 69, a clergy sex abuse victim and advocate for survivors of clergy sexual abuse, called Ms. Harris’ depiction of her record as being tough on sex offenders “bulls***.” “She was handed a room full of cases and boxes of names of sex offenders, and all that in the church right there under her nose,” Mr. Piscitelli told The Washington Times. ‘The Kamala Crash’: Trump terms market selloff as ‘preview’ of world without him in the White House

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain voice As Americans awoke Monday to the start of a work week on Main Street, there was a crash on Wall Street. Investments in Big Tech and other companies with household names plummeted, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 1,000 points at the opening of markets. By mid-afternoon it had not changed. Alphabet, Apple, Amazon, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla -- known as the Magnificent Seven -- were all down, leaving some to project those companies alone could have up to $1 trillion in losses on the day. Other overseas markets experienced the same selloff. “Japan down 12%, India down 6%. Germany way down also. U.S. really bad. This is a preview of the world markets without Donald J. Trump in the White House," the former President p...

Driven by recession concerns, market plunges; Dow opens down 1,000 points, Big Tech stocks fall

By Matthew Kazin  | Fox Business Stocks plunged on Monday as U.S. recession fears caused turmoil throughout the global markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 1,000 points, while the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 also fell by 3.9% and 3.2%, respectively. A weak jobs report and shrinking manufacturing activity in the world's largest economy, coupled with dismal forecasts from the big technology firms, pushed the Nasdaq 100 and Nasdaq Composite into a correction last week. "While Friday’s employment report was disappointing, it wasn’t the only worrisome economic indicator, only the latest," said Greg McBride, Bankrate's chief financial analyst. "Couple economic concerns with the cacophony of earnings disappointments and weak corporate outlooks, global unres...

Military could go all in on hybrid, EVs for combat vehicles, other uses

By Scott Murdock | Military.com Have you heard who's in the market for a new electric vehicle? No, I'm not talking about the public radio devotee or bleeding-edge tech-bro -- I'm talking about the U.S. military. If you're like me, this news conjures up visions of tanks, armored vehicles and futuristic gadgets fit for a science-fiction thriller. The reality (for now) isn't quite that exciting. Still, technological advancement waits for no one, least of all those who need every possible edge to survive and win in combat. U.S. government agencies have been very vocal about using alternative energy sources to protect the environment, but the Defense Department has a more specific view of electric vehicles in particular. As agreement with Russia nears expiration, Air Force says restoring nukes on some B-52s would cost $4.5M

By Courtney Albon | Air Force Times The Air Force estimates it would cost about $4.5 million to restore nuclear weapon capabilities on approximately 30 B-52 bombers, a calculation that follows proposals from Congress to assess shoring up the U.S. nuclear weapons arsenal in the coming years. The House and Senate armed services committees included the recommendation in their respective defense policy bills for fiscal 2025. The bombers in question had previously been equipped with the ability to carry nuclear weapons but were converted to conventional aircraft about 10 years ago to comply with a key U.S.-Russia arms control treaty known as New START. That agreement, which sets limits on both countries’ nuclear arms capabilities, is set to expire in 2026. Proponents of the recommendat...

HBCU activist praises ‘Big T’ Donald Trump for ‘saving my college’ at Atlanta rally

By Fox News, via New York Post A Georgia activist stole the show after being introduced by former President Trump at his rally in Atlanta Saturday. Trump invited Michaelah Montgomery up on stage toward the end of his speech at the Georgia State University Convocation Center. He introduced Montgomery by explaining he met her at a restaurant this year. Trump said Montgomery, who attended Clark Atlanta University, had recognized him in public and commended him for funding historically Black colleges and universities. “She looks at me, says ‘It’s President Trump. You saved my college.’ And I said, ‘How the hell do you know that?’ … This one is so smart, so sharp,” Trump recalled. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST
