Trump pleads not guilty to superseding indictment as Jan. 6 case back in DC court

By The Hill Former President Trump’s federal Jan. 6 case is back in a D.C. courtroom on Thursday. Trump is not there in person, but attorneys and prosecutors on special counsel Jack Smith’s team are arguing before U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan to determine how the case should proceed now that the Supreme Court ruled Trump has broad immunity from criminal prosecution. That high court decision in July sent Trump’s criminal prosecution back to the lower court to apply the standard. In Chutkan’s case, she she sparked a flurry of activity in August when she announced she would hold a conference to chart the course of the case. Trump predicts ‘1929-style depression’ if Kamala wins

By Jeff Poor | Breitbart Wednesday, during a town hall event that aired on FNC’s “Hannity,” former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, warned viewers about a repeat of the 1929 Great Depression if Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democrat opponent, wins. Partial transcript as follows: HANNITY: Here’s my point. She wants to raise corporate taxes, she wants to raise small business taxes, capital gain taxes, estate taxes, the international corporate minimum tax to the point where America won’t be competitive anymore and your tax cuts are about to expire in 2025. TRUMP: Yeah. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

Biden admin revives Russian election interference bogeyman just in time for November

By Reagan Reese | Daily Caller President Joe Biden’s administration launched new accusations of election interference at Russia nine weeks before the 2024 election. The Department of Justice alleged Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered several Russian companies to target Americans through the use of influencers and social media pages to spread propaganda and interfere with the election in a campaign titled “Doppelganger.” As a result of the indictment, the DOJ is charging two Russian-based employees of RT, a Russian state-controlled media outlet, with “conspiring to commit money laundering and to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act,” according to a press release. Rogan: Kamala Harris’s plan for economic failure

By James Rogan | Washington Examiner Today’s left-wing Democrats are yesterday’s Marxists. Judged by their policy proposals, Vice President Kamala Harris and the left wing of the Democratic Party plainly do not believe in capitalism. They do not believe in striving. They do not believe that society should be meritocratic. As with the Marxists of the last century, they believe in equality regardless of the reality that all human beings are unique. Some humans are geniuses but most are not. Some are great athletes, but most are not. Regardless of mental, physical, or artistic talent, however, the Left argues that we should all be equal. They swear fealty to that old Marxist principle: from each according to his or her ability, to each according to his or her...

Shrier: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and our government censors

By Abigail Shrier | Commentary, The Free Press When asked why he robbed banks, legendary fugitive Willie Sutton replied, “That’s where the money is.” Governments coerce social media platforms into censorship for the same simple reason: That’s where the objectionable speech is.  Thanks to a recent Supreme Court case, in America, there’s also little to stop them.  Social media platforms—but not their users—can sue the government to stop the impermissible suppression of speech, according to Murthy v. Missouri, decided in June. The Court held that social media users could not establish a causal link between government pressure and the suppression of their posts because “the platforms had independent incentives to moderate content and often exercised their own judgm...

Democrats want to keep the U.S. border wide open as an electoral strategy

By John Daniel Davidson | The Federalist If you want to know where Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democrats stand on the border and immigration, a recent exchange between former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Bill Maher tells the tale. Pelosi recently told Maher that she supports a California bill that would give illegal immigrants taxpayer money to buy homes. Maher quipped that Democrats didn’t used to support “free housing” for illegal immigrants, and Pelosi replied, “Well, that’s not free housing. It’s the American Dream being available to more people.” When Maher noted that the California bill would make the American Dream available for the “undocumented,” Pelosi said, “Well, what I would like to do is move them to documented.” READ MORE AT THE FEDERALIST...

Inflation has some military families ‘grasping at pennies’

By Karen Jowers | Military Times Inflation is “destroying any joy we may have been able to afford,” the airman wrote. “We are literally grasping at pennies to survive and it’s killing us.” Statements from the airman — stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico — and many others came in response to Military Times’ call for comments on how inflation has impacted service members and their families. Most responded with a common theme: Families are “cutting back” or “eliminating” everything from grocery shopping and driving to subscription services, vacations and eating out. Consumer prices were up by 3% from June 2023 to June 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s on top of inflation over the previous several years. READ MORE AT THE MILITARY TIMES...

Dems threaten to torpedo GOP’s government funding bill targeting noncitizen voting

By Rebeka Zeljko | Daily Caller Democrats are already pushing back against a Republican-led plan that would temporarily fund the federal government until March, decrying a separate bill attached to the measure that requires proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration. Speaker Mike Johnson is planning to introduce the continuing resolution (CR) next week with the hotly-contested SAVE Act tethered to it, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, Punchbowl reported Tuesday. At the same time, a number of Democrats have called the effort a nonstarter and encouraged Republican lawmakers to be more “bipartisan.” “As we have said each time we’ve had a CR, the only way to get things done is in a bipartisan way and that is what has happened every time,” Sen...
