Differences within ranks of Colorado GOP not necessarily weakness, Gabe Evans says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice As the two factions of the Colorado Republican Central Committee engage in a power struggle, it should viewed as a point of strength and not weakness, 8th District congressional nominee Gabe Evans said Tuesday in a press conference. "It is one of the things I've always been proud of with the Republican party," Evans said. "We respect individual opinions. We respect individual liberties. That means people won't always agree." By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice In a race which could be decided by a paper-thin margin, 8th District U.S. House Republican nominee Gabe Evans may have just drawn the most valuable endorsement. Eric Joss, the Libertarian Party's nominee for the 8th District, has announced his decision to withdraw and offer his support to Evans. It could be a 2% or better swing in the race. "Leadership means you listen to your constituents and come to a consensus on common things," Joss said. "A few weeks ago we were far apart on some common issues, and now we're a whole lot closer." The Republican has agreed to appear in debates presented by CBS, 9News, Fox31, and Colorado Politics. “Two years ago, [8th District] voters only got to observe one, 30-minute debate in the race for Congress. Voters deserve better,” Evans said in a statement. “There are tremendous differences between [Democrat] Yadira Caraveo and me on crime, the border, jobs and the cost of living. The first-term lawmaker heads into the general election with an eye-popping $3.3 million in the bank for a race that could determine which party controls the U.S. House of Representatives once ballots are counted in November.
