Gabe Evans’ ad attacks the laws Yadira Caraveo supported to ‘Defund the Police’

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Inside the final two weeks before Election Day, Republican nominee Gabe Evans is launching an ad in the critical 8th District race for the U.S. House seat attacking his opponent's "Defund the Police" stance. “Far-left crime and drug policies spawned Colorado’s crime wave, and [Democrat] Yadira Caraveo voted for them all,” Evans said in a press statement. “From cashless bail, to sanctuary state policies, to decriminalizing fentanyl, Yadira Caraveo has been at the forefront of the ‘defund the police’ movement. When she co-sponsored and voted for Senate Bill 20-217, the defunding effect was so potent I personally witnessed drug interdiction units being downsized and plainclothes agents reassigned back to patrol, allowing cartels and international d...

8th District ‘Battlestation’ office of Republican Gabe Evans, other tenants burglarized

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice An estimated $1,500 in property was stolen earlier this month from the 8th District "Battlestation" in Thornton to elect Gabe Evans to the U.S. House and support other down ballot candidates, an email Tuesday from the National Republican Congressional Committee reads. At about 11 a.m. Oct. 3, Thornton police responded to the 2200 block of E. 104th Ave., where Suite #209, leased to Gabe Evans for Congress, and other suites were burglarized. The police report indicates a speaker, camera and lens, tool set, and Chromebook were all taken in the burglary. Police indicate misdemeanor theft and felony burglary charges could be filed, but the case is presently inactive. “No one is safe in Yadira Caraveo’s Colorado thanks to her pro-crime policies,...

If you don’t know Danielle Jurinsky, you might after Donald Trump’s MAGA rally in Aurora

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice When Danielle Jurinsky returned to civilian life after nine years serving in the Air Force, most of it at Buckley Air Base, and after building multiple businesses employing more than 50 residents, adding to her responsibility may not have been a consideration. But, that's just what she did, running for and being elected as a member of City Council in the town where she was raised. It would almost be unfathomable to consider anyone in Colorado hasn't heard of the Aurora city councilwoman in the past few months. She's been at the forefront of discoveries the Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Araqua was active in some areas of the town, and leading in the assistance for some of the most affected residents. In a few days, the nation might also kn...

By Shaun Boyd | CBS Colorado In a sign of how competitive the race in Colorado's 8th Congressional District is, U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson made his second visit to the district in seven weeks to raise money and support for Republican Gabe Evans. Yadira Caraveo, Gabe Evans call each other liars, battle over border in dueling ads in Colorado’s 8th CD

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics The gloves came off Friday in the race to represent Colorado's toss-up 8th Congressional District. U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo, the Democratic incumbent, and state Rep. Gabe Evans, her Republican challenger, each released TV ads Friday morning focusing on border security — and by early afternoon, both candidates had accused their opponent of lying. Caraveo, a pediatrician and former state lawmaker, won the newly created seat two years ago by just over 1,600 votes in one of the closest congressional races in the country. This year, the district — stretching from suburbs north of Denver to Greeley in parts of Weld County — is considered Colorado's most competitive contest and could determine which party controls the U.S. House. Differences within ranks of Colorado GOP not necessarily weakness, Gabe Evans says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice As the two factions of the Colorado Republican Central Committee engage in a power struggle, it should viewed as a point of strength and not weakness, 8th District congressional nominee Gabe Evans said Tuesday in a press conference. "It is one of the things I've always been proud of with the Republican party," Evans said. "We respect individual opinions. We respect individual liberties. That means people won't always agree." It doesn't mean the party is without unity, he says. Members of the party are unified toward policy. "What we agree on across party lines is progressive Democrats have made a mess of Colorado," Evans said. "It's time to fix these issues." Republican solutions to issues he identifies as of primary importance, Evans s...

Libertarian Joss withdraws from 8th District race, endorses Evans in bid to unseat Caraveo

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice In a race which could be decided by a paper-thin margin, 8th District U.S. House Republican nominee Gabe Evans may have just drawn the most valuable endorsement. Eric Joss, the Libertarian Party's nominee for the 8th District, has announced his decision to withdraw and offer his support to Evans. It could be a 2% or better swing in the race. "Leadership means you listen to your constituents and come to a consensus on common things," Joss said. "A few weeks ago we were far apart on some common issues, and now we're a whole lot closer." Evans has signed what was described as Liberty Pledge 2.0, agreeing to support many liberty issues, if elected to Congress. "One of the big sticking points [previously] was we had to agree to abolish the i...

Evans tours southern border near El Paso, criticizes that Caraveo has not

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Gabe Evans, the Republican nominee for the 8th District seat in the U.S. House, visited the southern border near El Paso on Thursday. “The open-border policies of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Yadira Caraveo have had dire results: more deaths, a record number of individuals on the terrorist watch list crossing into the U.S., and record levels of poisonous fentanyl released into the U.S.," Evans said. "In 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded an astonishing 2.5 million border crossings, plus an unknown additional number of got-aways." He reports 375 individuals on the terrorist watch list have been apprehended crossing into the U.S., and 99 have been released into the U.S., as of July. Evans is vying to unseat Democrat Caraveo in...

Evans accepts four debates in 8th District U.S. House race, asks Caraveo to do the same

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Gabe Evans has accepted four debate invitations in Colorado's 8th District race for the U.S. House. The Republican has agreed to appear in debates presented by CBS, 9News, Fox31, and Colorado Politics. “Two years ago, [8th District] voters only got to observe one, 30-minute debate in the race for Congress. Voters deserve better,” Evans said in a statement. “There are tremendous differences between [Democrat] Yadira Caraveo and me on crime, the border, jobs and the cost of living. As candidates for Congress, we owe it to the voters to articulate and explain our positions on these and other important issues." Evans served 12 years in the U.S. Army and Colorado Army National Guard as a Black Hawk helicopter pilot and company commander. He dep...
