Only 22% of Coloradans have voted in Presidential primary, with 5% more voting GOP over Democrat ballot

What to know: Republicans have a write-in option, but who can be voted as a write-in? What happens if you vote a candidate who has suspended their campaign? By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice Of those Coloradans eligible to cast a ballot in the Republican Party’s presidential primary election, only 15.3% have done so, according to data provided Friday by the Colorado secretary of state’s office through the close of Thursday’s reporting. It leads those eligible to cast a Democratic Party ballot and having done so by 4.9%. It has been slow going thus far, with just short of 22% of all voters casting a ballot, and with women leading men in ballots cast. With 108,200 ballots in process Friday and with Election Day looming on Tuesday, March 5, it could be a low turnout fo...

Katie Britt to deliver GOP rebuttal to Biden’s State of the Union address

By LAUREN SFORZA | The Hill Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) will deliver the Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union address next week. “I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to speak directly to my fellow Americans on March 7. We’ll have a candid conversation about the future of our nation — and I’ll outline the Republican vision to secure the American Dream for generations to come,” Britt wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Britt was sworn into office last year after being endorsed by former President Trump in her Senate race, becoming the first woman elected to represent Alabama in the U.S. Senate. Rep. Buck calls in House resolution for President Biden to be removed through 25th Amendment

By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice President Joe Biden’s days in office would be numbered if a measure introduced Monday by U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, R-Windsor, is successful. His resolution calls upon Vice President Kamala Harris to gather members of the President’s cabinet to declare Biden “incapable of executing the duties of his office” under the 25th Amendment. It would lead to Harris immediately assuming office as the acting President. “The time has come for the Vice President and the Cabinet to put our country first and move forward on invoking the 25th Amendment,” Buck told The Hill. U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Silt, has additionally told the Rocky Mountain Voice she will file for articles of impeachment soon if Republicans don’t act as a result of investigations into...

Lincoln pardoned Joe Biden’s great-great-grandfather, newly uncovered document reveals

By David J. Gerleman | The Washington Post Every new president selects personalized Oval Office decor to suit his tastes and pay homage to admired predecessors. President Biden’s Oval Office boasts both a portrait and a bust of Abraham Lincoln. But his family’s connection to the 16th president extends far beyond workplace ornamentation. It dates to a late-night brawl during the Civil War. On the evening of March 21, 1864, the quiet of a small corner of the Army of the Potomac’s sprawling winter camp along the Rappahannock River near Beverly Ford, Va., was disturbed when a fight broke out in one of the mess tents between Union Army civilian employees Moses J. Robinette and John J. Alexander. READ THE FUL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON POST

Special Counsel Hur: Biden ‘Elderly Man With Poor Memory’

By Philip Wegmann | Real Clear Politics The same week Joe Biden publicly confused two European leaders with their deceased predecessors and passed on the traditional softball Super Bowl Sunday interview, a new report from Special Counsel Robert Hur described the president as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” The confluence of events raised further questions about the mental acuity of the 81-year-old executive, doubts that Biden did little to dispel in a defiant session with the press at the White House Thursday evening. Biden took particular umbrage with what he described as “extraneous commentary” contained in the report. “My memory’s fine. My memory’s – take a look at what I’ve done since I became president,” Biden said sarcastically. “How did that h...

Enraged Biden lashes out at reporters, special counsel after scathing classified docs report: ‘I know what the hell I’m doing!’

BY STEVEN NELSON | NEW YORK POST President Biden lashed out at reporters and special counsel Robert Hur on Thursday night in response to a scathing report on Biden’s mishandling of classified documents that could prove devastating to his re-election prospects. Hur’s report on Biden’s improper retention of sensitive material did not recommend criminal charges, but observed that the 81-year-old commander-in-chief appeared greatly diminished mentally, forgetting the dates of key events in his life during an interview with investigators. “I’ve seen the headlines since the report was released about my willful retention of documents. These assertions are not only just misleading, they’re just plain wrong,” Biden said defiantly during a hastily scheduled appearance in the White...

Trump changes tune and wants to debate Biden: ‘For the good of the country’

Voters: Biden is losing it, and the media are covering it up

By Paul Bedard | Denver Gazette There is a growing concern among voters that President Joe Biden is losing his mental edge and that the media are working overtime to hide it. In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, 59% of voters said they believe Biden “is getting less and less mentally sharp over time.” White voters at 59% and black voters at 58% are in agreement that Biden is becoming more mentally challenged. Even 36% of Democrats agree, Rasmussen said. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE DENVER GAZETTE

Biden team worried about next big embarrassment to hit president

By Haisten Willis | Colorado Springs Gazette The Biden campaign fears that the results of a classified documents investigation could lead to embarrassing information, and possibly photos, that could damage President Joe Biden's reelection chances. Biden's aides believe special counsel Robert Hur's investigation won't lead to any criminal charges, according to Axios, but unflattering details and photos could still lead to political damage. Former President Donald Trump is facing felony charges related to his handling of classified documents. Soon after his Mar-a-Lago home was raided in August 2022, Biden weighed in by asking aloud how "anyone could be that irresponsible." READ THE FULL STORY AT THE COLORADO SPRINGS GAZETTE

Trump leading Biden on economy by over 20 points despite positive trends: Poll

By Kaelan Deese | Colorado Springs Gazette President Joe Biden is trailing former President Donald Trump by more than 20 points on the issue of which candidate would better handle the economy, according to a new poll. The leading Republican front-runner, Trump, holds a 22-point lead over Biden on the question of which candidate would better handle the economy, with 55% picking Trump and 33% selecting Biden, according to an NBC News poll conducted Jan. 26-30. The dismal outlook for Biden comes despite his recent boasting that "jobs are growing," with more than 300,000 created just last month. When the same question was proposed to voters in October 2020, a month before Biden defeated Trump, the then-president held just a seven-point advantage over Bide...
