Biden tells Colorado Rep. Jason Crow: ‘I don’t want to hear that crap’

By SARAH FERRIS | Politico President Joe Biden gave a forceful and defensive response to centrist Democrats who raised concerns about his reelection campaign in a Saturday meeting, and in one tense exchange dismissed one lawmaker’s concerns as “crap.” Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.), a respected centrist in the Democratic caucus, told Biden that people want a strong leader so they can feel safe on national security. “I don’t want to hear that crap,” Biden said in response to Crow’s suggestion that voters did not have confidence in his national security credentials, raising his voice in a forceful defense of his foreign policy record, including the rebuilding of NATO, according to three people familiar with the remarks granted anonymity to discuss the private meeting. Mr. Trump had begun only brief remarks Saturday afternoon in Butler, Penn., when shots from an assassin's rifle, interrupting a campaign rally in rural, western Pennsylvania, could be heard on TV broadcasts. "We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness," Mr. Trump wrote on his social media platform. "Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed." Secret Service faces questions after Trump assassination attempt

By Stephen Dinan and Kerry Picket | The Washington Times The U.S. House’s top investigator said he will demand answers from the Secret Service after former President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally Saturday. “There are many questions and Americans demand answers. I have already contacted the Secret Service for a briefing and am also calling on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to appear for a hearing,” said Republican Rep. National Review: The attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump

By THE EDITORS | Commentary, National Review The nation escaped an unspeakable tragedy that would have been profoundly destabilizing for the country by perhaps a few centimeters. As it is, what happened in Butler, Pa., is godawful enough. A gunman tried to assassinate former president Donald Trump and grazed his ear with a bullet, while killing one rally-goer and seriously injuring others. This was a heinous act of violence and an attack on American democracy. Trump’s reaction was truly extraordinary and will long be remembered. After Secret Service officers threw themselves on the former president and then picked him up to begin to take him to safety, he insisted on pausing on the stage, with blood streaming down his face, and pumping his fist to the crowd and repe...

Farage: ‘Hate rhetoric from many leftish politicians and media … is not without consequences’

By FEDERICA DI SARIO | Politico U.K. right-wing firebrand Nigel Farage on Sunday blamed a “liberal narrative” from political opponents for the shocking assassination attempt that left former U.S. President Donald Trump injured and bleeding Saturday night. The attack at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, which left one attendee dead and two others seriously wounded, threw another jolt into an already stormy U.S. election. Trump, who was hit in the right ear, was treated at a nearby hospital before being released. The gunman was shot dead.  “The narrative that is put out there about Trump by these liberals that oppose him is so nasty, so unpleasant, and I think it almost encourages this type of behavior,” Farage, a long-time Trump admirer, told the BBC’s Sunday Wi...
