Colorado AG Weiser joins suit against Trump over birthright citizenship order

Colorado lawmakers react to inauguration of President Donald Trump

Trump was sworn in to serve as U.S. President for the second time on Monday, Jan. 20, drawing reactions from around the world, but also from some of Colorado’s lawmakers. Trump named Colorado several times during his campaign for presidency, and visited Aurora in October to speak about immigration and the gang violence reported at troubled apartments in the city. Those apartments are now under an emergency closure order, and the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency said in December that 16 people arrested in connection to an armed apartment invasion were suspected Tren de Aragua members or associates. By Alix Martichoux | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News On a frigid holiday Monday in Washington, D.C., Donald Trump will take the oath of office for a second time to become the 47th president of the United States. The weather was expected to be so cold on Monday that the main ceremony was to be moved inside the Capitol Rotunda. The last time the swearing-in was moved indoors was in 1985 when President Ronald Reagan began his second term. Monday’s forecast calls for the lowest Inauguration Day temperatures since that day. Task force arrests eight in Northern Colorado multinational drug trafficking bust

By Morgan Whitley | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News Eight people were arrested for distributing dangerous drugs in northern Colorado and Wyoming in a drug trafficking bust, according to the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force. In April 2024, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force received information about a local drug trafficking organization that was led by a Johnstown man. Detectives identified Curtis Rogers as a distributor and claimed he supplied methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycodone, and fentanyl across the area. Following an investigation, known as Operation King Friday, detectives learned Rogers had connections to what they called a multinational drug trafficking organization based in Mexico. Officially, it’s called the Cowboy Lodge, but locals refer to it as the “Ronald McDonald House.” While there’s no relation to McDonald’s, the multi-million dollar mansion, sitting near the slopes on Ski Trail Lane in Steamboat Springs, is known for its ode to the fast food joint, as it had a Ronald McDonald statue on the roof for years. According to Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate, over time, the house turned into an icon as skiers and boarders on the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort gondola would catch a glimpse of the interesting statue. But there is one animal that’s turning heads this year. Meet the rare, and adorable, Valais Blacknose sheep. A flock of this unique breed from Nashville.Farm is currently educating guests at the stock show, but there is more to them than just their cute faces. According to Jacque Watkins Skinner with Nashville.Farm, the Valais Blacknose sheep originate from the Valais region of Switzerland and were exclusively raised there until the sheep were imported to the British Isles in 2013 and 2014. How much do ‘low-income’ workers make in Denver?

By Heather Willard | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News If you are hoping to make it out of the “low-income” bracket in 2025, you’ll have to make over $35 per hour. That’s according to the calculations by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. HUD calculates home income limits to determine if applicants are eligible for subsidized housing. The numbers are calculated across the U.S. for each county and metro area. Anyone earning under 80% of the area’s median income is considered “low income” by HUD, while also taking into consideration the household size. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Denver County’s median household income (in 2023 dollars) is $91,681 annually. That’s slightly lower than the state’s median income of $92,470. A new voice is answering 911 calls in Arapahoe County

The sheriff’s office has hired a behavioral health dispatch specialist whose expertise is in mental health and de-escalation tactics. Several other law enforcement departments have been sending “co-responders” to police calls. They are mental health professionals who show up to the scenes with deputies.
