Richard Holtorf, R-Akron, says. He authored House Bill 24-1128, with the support of Sen. Mark Baisley, and an 8-3 party-line committee vote in the 74th Legislature prevented it from ever reaching the floor for debate. "They wholeheartedly rejected it on principle, a bad, progressive principle of open borders," Holtorf said. Instead of knocking doors, meeting with supporters or other activities that would have helped his campaign, Richard Holtorf spent Sunday coming to the rescue on Buffalo Springs Ranch, where he operates a cattle feeder operation. The water table dropped and the pasture wells were not pumping water, Holtorf's campaign manager Rhonda Brandt explained to The Independent. House Bill 1236 cleared the Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee without objection last week and Monday earned unanimous support of the Colorado Senate. "There's a lot of reasons why we need to celebrate women veterans," said Sen. Byron Pelton, a co-prime sponsor of the legislation in the Colorado Senate. "Being a veteran myself, I know the difference of treatment of myself and those I served with that happen to be female." The bill establishes June 12 as Women Veterans Appreciation Day in Colorado. Richard Holtorf, R-Akron, will appear second on the Republican Party's 4th Congressional District primary ballot, immediately following 3rd District U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, he announced Friday. He won a lottery drawing for the position among qualified candidates on the congressional ballot to replace ex-Congressman Ken Buck, following top-line candidate Lauren Boebert. Holtorf earned 15.4% of the delegate vote at the 4th District Assembly in early April and his certification of 1,866 signatures allowed him to advance onto the ballot through the hybrid method.
